About

A passion...

An atypical, meandering way, from stream to river, from river to the sea.  A passion that has became devouring, and like the title of the book by Perri KNIZE : A Grand Obsession  "...innate and acquired at the same time, my past, my future, my destiny."

My purpose is to allow those setting off on their own adventure, beginners, experienced, professionnal pianists, to find ecstasy, and as the Canadian say so well :

"to fall in love" with their instrument.

TUNING

There is a tuning accuracy in the morning which may be slightly different to that of the evening.  Tuning can be slightly adjusted, within a certain margin, depending on where the piano is situated to suit the accoustics of this location as well as the particular preference of the pianist.
Tuning can be open-ended or closed, but it must always be balanced, in tune and pleasant to the ear.
A good piano tuning usually takes between 60 to 90 minutes.

SETTINGS

The resistance and feedback of each key on a keyboard is fundamental and contributes to the quality of a good setting for a pleasant touch...

Measurements and high precision adjustments are made according to the protocol  established by David C. STANWOOD.

VOICING

The density and shape and of the hammerhead determines to a large extent the sound that is produced when the hammer hits the strings.  So sanding of the felt is a delicate and important process.

After all other adjustments have been made "voicing" is the last step, during which the tuner uses needles to change the density of the felt in order to

bring-out the true sound of the piano.     It's, always, a challenge...

CONSULTING EXPERTISE

It should be noted that a piano should be tuned regularly (ideally once a year) and be in a humidity controlled environment (45 to 55 % humidity).  If requied, I am able to install an automatic humidity control system inside your instrument for you.

I am at your disposal for any information concerning the value of your instrument, the possible work needed to be done to bring your piano to a pleasant level of sound and appearence and, if you wish to sell it, I can put you in touch with an event purchaser.   If you need to move your piano, I  can also provide you with contact information for specialized piano transporters.

Please don't hesitate to contact me for any information.  It will be my pleasure to hear from you.
